We should start a GT tradition: Marvel Thursdays. All things comics, TV shows, and movies.
OMG YOU GUYS I'M OVER HERE FANGIRLING SO HARD IT WAS SO AWESOME OMG I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT AGAIN.
*inhale* *exhale* *inhale* *exhale*
I can't even form coherent thoughts right now, but I'll do my best.
So, I take it you liked it?
Yes, yes I did.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how was it?
WAY BETTER than either Thor's and Iron Man's respective second outings. And better than Iron Man 3, which in itself was way better than Iron Man 2.
This is basically the closest Marvel's Phase 2 has gotten to touching The Avengers, so 9, maybe 9.5? Yeah, 9.5.
That's high praise. How does it actually stack up to The Avengers?
Umm, it has a slightly meatier plot than The Avengers, but that movie has a huge WOW factor that's gonna be hard for other films that are not Age of Ultron to top. If that makes any sense.
[WE'RE GETTING INTO SPOILER TERRITORY HERE]
Speaking of plot, what is the film about?
Let's just say that, even though they're produced by different studios and involve different parts of the Marvel Universe, Winter Soldier kinda dovetails with X-Men: Days of Future Past in the sense that we're dealing with people who want the population at large to give up their privacy in the name of collective security. Our heroes aren't cool with that, and this drives the story.
Also, there's a neat conspiracy theory aspect to it in that the folks looking out for the "greater good" (theeee greeeeaaateeeeer goooood) don't really give a shit about doing any kind of good. They're in it for their own benefit and we've fought them before. Cut off one head, two more rise in its place. And what's worse is that these new heads stick to the shadows, crawling their way into the highest echelons of power, setting their pieces in place, waiting to make their next move.
Sounds like there should be a ton of double and triple crossing.
Oh ja. If you saw last nights Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D episode, you'll feel right at home.
Do the ladies kick ass?
YES. SO MUCH ASS. Cap can't fuckin' tie his own shoelaces without Natasha helping him out, Agent 13 (Emily VanCamp from Revenge) helps Cap out of a tight spot, and Associate Director Hill out BAMFs Nick Fury.
ETA: Should I stay after the credits roll?
Yes you should. We get not one, but TWO stingers. The one halfway through the credits ties in with a HUGE upcoming Phase 2 project.
